As a local to Atlanta and self-proclaimed coffee lover, I’ve had the chance to explore different neighborhoods and am always quick to check out the wide variety of coffee shops in town. Between finding a good shop to study for my nursing boards to grabbing a quick cup of coffee for a 12 hour shift, Atlanta has the best coffee shops for a quick brew. Looking for a new coffee place to try? Here’s some of our favorites:
A clean and modern feel with smooth and tasty coffee, Dancing Goats has become a locals favorite coffee stop. The lattes, espressos, and drip coffee are all handcrafted, and the local bakery items are absolutely delicious. The menu has a variety of dairy and gluten free options, and The Midtown and Buckhead locations have ample space to spread out to work on projects, study, or meet with friends. The Ponce City Market location is often busy and bustling, with a modern enclosed outdoor seating area. There are locations in Midtown, Buckhead, Decatur and Ponce City Market, making Dancing Goats an easy go to spot no matter where you are in the city.
Batdorf and Bronson opened their Atlanta roastery in 1994 and outsource to local restaurants and grocery stores. They even have blends named after Atlanta neighborhoods, the Old 4th Ward Blend being a personal favorite.
This coffee house and craft beer bar located in the Kirkwood neighborhood supports local breweries and bakeries as well as holds space for community events and meetings. The bakery and food menus source from Ratio Bakeshop and H&F bread company, both Atlanta bakeries. The owner believes in passion for coffee and entrepreneurship, and promotes connection in the community. This is the perfect place to stop by for an afternoon pick me up or a quick bite! An extra perk (no pun intended)—free wifi!
Located right off the Atlanta Beltline in the Inman Park neighborhood, Inman Perk is an Atlanta classic. The perfect blend of cozy and flavorful, this family owned shop is a must. The coffee is sustainable and fair trade, and a large variety of teas for tea lovers. The food menu has gluten free, dairy free and vegan options complete with freshly made cake and pie options behind the counter. At night the small bar opens with wine and beer for our 21+ friends, and the coffee counter has an ice cream selection for a desert or treat for the little ones. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and while there is plenty of seating, it’s almost always packed!
Atlanta’s newest Coffee House and Cold Brew Bar, Dairies, opened its doors in Reynoldstown earlier this month. Dairies Coffeehouse has a large selection of coffee and tea, but it also has cold brew on tap! With 14 different brews on tap, it’s a coffee lover’s gold mine. The coffee menu has the traditional hot and cold favorites and also has an entire section for health and wellness drinks that include keto, MCT oil, and adaptogen options. The company partners with small coffee farms and farmers to provide sustainable coffee for the coffeehouse, and also values healthy and clean eats. The smoothie and yogurt bowls are delicious, and the toast menu selection has a variety of protein rich and healthy toppings such as salmon and avocado! Trendy and health oriented, Dairies is fantastic coffee shop to add to the list in the Atlanta area.
This neighborhood café located in the Virginia Highlands may be small, but it is a hidden gem! Press & Grind hand-makes their own almond and cashew milk, and added to any of their handcrafted coffee drinks is heaven in a cup. They have healthy additive options for drinks including MCT oil, keto options, and serve protein packed smoothies. Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are made to order, and while seating is limited, it is well worth a stop if you find yourself in the Virginia highlands!
This small Clarkston coffee stop benefits a great cause! As indicated by the name, it’s a non profit that serves the refugee population in Clarkston. A local community spot, Refugee Coffee’s trainees are guaranteed more than minimum wage, and proceeds and tips go to the refugee trainees. With a mission to serve and bring diverse Atlanta together, this unique and beautifully run coffee stop is to love!
